I just bowled my second career 800 series. I did it on the thursday morning league at holiday bowl in huntingdon,pa. I started the day off not really expecting much to happen. I just walked in the bowling alley i wanted to bowl average. I was bowling on lanes 7-8, in this bowling alley, all the league bowlers don't like this pair of lanes because they are always wetter than the rest of the lanes. This pair always dries out way to quick and everyone can't really adjust to the lanes in this house. Anyway, i started the series off using a ball that i "retired" to the basement a couple of years ago and just got it out to take with me to State College for a No-tap tournament. My first game i bowled a 266, there was even an open frame in this game, i missed the 10 pin in  the third frame. My second game i bowled a 279. the only frame that i didn't strike was because of a 10 pin, picked it up in the 5th frame and went the rest of the way out with strikes. My third game started out with the first two strikes and then a 10 pin, which i picked up. then went into the 10th frame with strikes. First ball in the 10th, i went to high on the back swing and pulled the ball and left the 9 pin. i was a little worried about picking it up because i knew that if i didn't make it that the 800 was out of the question. I picked up the 9 pin and i knew all i needed was to get 7 pins. I focused on hitting my mark, like i did all day and when i got it to where i wanted it, i knew that it was going to be either a 9 count or a strike, i got the strike and ended up with an 803 series.

new league season is starting up. Bowling alley's may need new teams so go to a bowling alley and sign up.

Well tonight was the bowler of the year tournament. To qualify for this you had to get bowler of the week. There were 21 guys bowling and i forget how many women were bowling. After my first 3 games i ended up with a 681 series. Top series after 3 games was 751, then 727, 691, 681, and 676. so i ended up qualifing 4th. We all bowled on one lane together for one game. top 3 scores advance. Top score was 277, then 254, 227. I bowled 254. Made it to the quarter final round were the one with the most bowler of the weeks came in to make it 4 bowlers. Top 2 advance.  I bowled a 199 and that got me knocked out. Top 2 scored were both above 220. THe final match ended 203-198. John supina beat josh miller. i finished 4th.

Well as most people know leagues are finally started to end for the winter and summer leagues are starting up or are getting formed. I've been asked to bowl in the summer league on thursday morning but i don't know yet. This past winter i set my goals up high and did i almost get them. I bowled 3 games in the 280's, about 5 games in the 270's, and 10 games in the 260's. My goal was to bowl a 300 this winter, i came close a couple of times but the dreaded 10 pin got me or i made just one mistake. I wanted to try and average 220 this year, i never had a 220 but my high before i set that goal last summer was a 212 average for a 35 week league. This year i have averaged 215 in 33 weeks on the main league that i bowled on, the other i averaged 205 but mostly that league was practice. I bowled 6, 700 series this year and should have many more. I learned that i had to start getting lazy by the third game and just go out and bowl.  The third goal i set was bowler of the year the bowling alley. The bowler of the year tournament is on May 12th, its on a monday. To qualify for that you have to get bowler of the week. I got that once and qualified. This weekend i plan on going to state college for a pba no-tap tournament, i figure any help on the patterns will help since i'm in the process of putting my pba application in.

Last night was a very successful day for me personally. The team that I bowl on only won 1 game, but individually my series was just about the best for the league tonight. I started out with a 224 game, and then I had a 214 game, and then finally i followed those games up with a 231. The series I finished up with tonight was a 669, its not quiet the high series for this league but i did bowl a 696 series a month or 2 ago which led the league until 2 guys both bowled 703. So far I have a 212 average on this league which is leading by only one pin and my teammate has that one with a 211. Before this year started, and in my last blog post, my goal was a 220 average at Holiday Bowl, Huntingdon Pa and Bowler of the year. I already got  bowler of the week but it wasn't because of my bowling in this league. I also bowl Thursday morning and I have bowled two 700 series in that league. I don't really call that one the league that i bowl in for competition and bragging rights since almost everyone is over 50, so I just bowl in that league for some extra practice before the Sunday NO-TAP tournaments in State College, Pa. It has helped out a lot.
